There are many differnt factors effecting sex in the congergations. These can be anything from the amount of exposure to sexual stimuli. Who are your influences? How seriously do you take the religion? How strong is your sex drive and libido? Everybody fits into the scenario differently regardless of the what the congregation wants to project. Sexually screwed up people can be ones with no confidence due to lack of experience. They can also be ones who feel guilt for the slightest of infractions. Some may be ones who were given no sex education from there family freinds or school and were told to read the youth book for answers. Who is to say what backwards is anyways. Some people listen to advice some don't. Society in general used to be far less intolerant of gays and in victorian times were supposedly prudish. This didn't stop anyone fron doing anything it just went on in private and was driven underground. The Victorians were probably wilder than we think but projected the lady and gentleman images of the times. The victorian prudish image of the hall is just a sham with burning desires and boners in every isle. There is no difference between the hall and a cross section of society, except for a much higher degree of hypocrasy!

Thanks Tetra. I know what your saying about the metphor of the mirror and our existence as whole. We probably agree on many things. Most of what I write I am pulling from my memory though. I havn't read a good book in ages. Too disturbed. When I have healed more I can probably afford to get more philosophical for fun, like you and Narkissos. I have read many of your arguments and can see you read more than I. Sometimes I dare not tread in those areas but just read them. Most things don't sink into my head that easily, unless I go over it a couple of times. You seem to have a sense of humour as well. That's good. Did you know the works of the Marquis de Sade are contained here in the library of parliament? I knew a man in his 80's, who worked there for many years, who told me that he read them, and even had sex capades in the library. He's probably dead now. These works were traded to our government for something else. I know not what. I don't know if the general public could get them that easily without special permission though. Keep postin you guys. I'll interject where I can. Love your thoughts. Your amazing too Raf. I better have my head screwed on straight if I ever want to debate. My short term memory is useless, but my long term is amazing. It's like i'm stuck in a feedback loop.

insanity
by winnie ini wonder why families treat there own flesh and blood with so much contempt because they are inactive or disfellowshipped.. 6 week ago my father who is po of congregation ask me if i would like to go to the cricket to watch australia and england play.at the time i asked if any jw were going he said no.i payed for the ticket.did not hear from him for 6 weeks so rang up yesterday to ask about arrangments and was told that the brothers were going.
yes that right 3 elders and my nephew.. i did not ask to go i was invited.i payed for my ticket 6 weeks ago yet did not even get aphone call.when i conveyed my disgust to my father he blamed me.i can not fathom his reasoning.. so some elder is sitting in my seat watching cricket with a ticket i payed for.hope he gets hit on the head with a cricket ball.. my father is an intelligent man yet sometimes there thinking processes are so warped.they would not treat some drug addict they dragged to kingdom hall who shows interest the same way they treat own flesh and blood.. in 20 years time i think that jws will be a very small religion or almost extinct.if they keep up with there current thinking they will self destruct.tearing families apart will not make for a strong organization.

I think we are only parts of god. All forms of consciousness that is. E=mc squared means that energy = mass times the speed of light squared. Mass is what everything is made of. God made us by convertng his energy into mass and scattered it with the big bang. Maybe out of boredom.We are parts of god's consciousness that are trying to unify. We as a collective, are the universe trying to understand itself. All good and bad inclusive. You are only a very small peice in an almost infinate mosaic of peices. As gods, our sharing of knowledge enables our power. Perhaps full consciousness, for one omnipotent being is just too much to handle and the universe collapses when a peak is reached, only to start over again. It is like eternal expansion and contraction for it's own good. Knowing everything for all eternity must be paifnully lonely. That up there, is a mirror, Tetra, but if you guys want to worship me, I humbly accept. The full mystery is not for any one person to know. That is the mystery of god {god's}

Does our language betray us?
by Mysterious inhas anyone else noticed how you can tell who is new or fading, who was a long timer, who was never really into it, etc just from the way posts and language are structured?
i think it struck me when i heard someone say they did their utmost to leave the organization..do your utmost..not a common expression in most people's worlds so it still twigged a jw connection.
reading steve hassan's book on mind control reminded me of just how important language is in cult group membership.

Mysterious, when I was posting on your cult personality thread could you tell how long I was out. I don't know if I told you but take a guess based on what I wrote.

The witnesses had a full judicial comitee meeting with my parents and banned me from seeing Corey Hart in 82. If I tried going to a concert like that they would have emasculated me! Enjoy the concert with all your heart and give the elders a big finger for me!

That's a great list I wish my printer was working. Can't beleive the racist comments knocking almost every race and there veiws on phrenology as to why these people would not prefer there magazines. It's a massive insult. Even the quack cures, ridiculous pyrmidology are astounding. A religion professing to be directed by holy spirit should have been ahead of the attitudes of the day.

cult personality type?
by Mysterious inanother thing that has been intriguing me lately is the idea that cults can help sway people towards a certain personality type more towards a judging personality for example, or becoming more feeling rather than thinking.
i know my meyers-briggs type changed from istj when i was a jw to intj after i left.
i was curious if anyone else was aware of a similar shift in their actual measurable personality traits..maybe putting on the new personality is literal?

Your absolutely right! Thanks for highlighting that. Its easier to see myself drifting from the help I need. I tend to do that alot even with people in general. My GP suggested a shrink for me right next door and I still fighting that. I'm my own worst enemy sometimes. This thread is an absolute keeper!
